Dionaea muscipula ‘Triton’ is a striking and unusual Venus Flytrap cultivar distinguished by its dramatically divided trap lobes, which split into multiple finger-like segments rather than forming a single smooth margin. Each trap appears almost shredded or coral-like, with elongated, twisting extensions that give the plant a wild, tentacled look. The cilia (the “teeth” along the trap edges) are often irregular and fused in places, adding to its chaotic, sculptural form. Colouration typically ranges from vibrant green on the exterior to a flushed red interior under strong light, intensifying the alien appearance of the segmented traps. Compact yet bold, ‘Triton’ forms a low rosette that looks more like a botanical curiosity than a traditional flytrap, making it a true collector’s piece.
