Scientific Name: Dionaea muscipula 'Pink Venus'
Also known as: Pink Venus Flytrap
Origin: A cultivated clone of Dionaea muscipula, bred for its vibrant all-pink to deep red pigmentation across both leaves and traps.
Dionaea muscipula 'Pink Venus' is a colourful and compact Venus Flytrap cultivar featuring vivid pink to burgundy-red traps and petioles. Unlike green or bicolour types, the entire plant flushes with rich colour under strong light—making it one of the most visually dramatic flytraps available. The traps are low-growing and wide, with well-defined marginal lashes ("teeth") and a fast, responsive snap. This striking cultivar is ideal for display and performs well in both indoor and outdoor conditions with proper care.
Light: Full sun or bright artificial light (5000–6500K). Needs at least 4–6 hours of direct light daily to develop full red-pink coloration.
Water: Use only distilled, rainwater, or reverse osmosis (RO) water.
Watering:
Growing season (spring–autumn): Keep the soil consistently moist. Best grown in a shallow tray of water.
Dormant season (winter): Reduce watering and keep the soil just damp. Avoid standing water during dormancy.
Humidity: 40–70% preferred. Adapts well to normal indoor humidity if water and light needs are met.
Temperature: Thrives in 20–30°C. Requires a winter dormancy at 5–10°C for 2–3 months.
Feeding: Naturally catches prey. Indoors, feed once every few weeks with a small live insect or dried food item. Avoid overfeeding.
Dormancy: Yes—enters a winter dormancy with reduced growth and trap die-back. Regrowth resumes in spring.
Plant: One young Dionaea muscipula 'Pink Venus'. Colour may be light at shipping stage but will intensify under strong light. Plant is 2–4 cm across when shipped; mature traps can exceed 3–4 cm.
Grow Cup: 5 cm clear plastic cup with ventilated lid to retain humidity. Top layer includes protective moss or sterile medium.
Medium: Carnivorous plant mix—nutrient-free, peat-based, moisture-retentive, and breathable.
Instructions: Step-by-step planting and care guide included.
Bright light is essential—insufficient light will cause loss of pink colour.
Use only mineral-free water—tap water will harm roots and traps.
Don’t skip dormancy—this rest period is vital for long-term health and growth.
