Scientific Name: Dionaea muscipula 'Cudo'

Also known as: Cudo Venus Flytrap, Mini Venus Flytrap

Origin: A miniature cultivar of Dionaea muscipula, bred and selected for its extremely small size and compact growth habit.

Dionaea muscipula 'Cudo' is one of the tiniest Venus Flytrap cultivars available, often staying under 3 cm in diameter even at maturity. Despite its small stature, it forms fully functional traps with beautiful red blushing interiors under strong light. The traps are dainty, round, and sit tightly in a petite rosette. Perfect for terrarium growing, windowsills, or collectors who want a “miniature” marvel in their carnivorous plant collection.

Growing Requirements

Light: Full sun or strong LED lighting (5000–6500K). Needs at least 4–6 hours of direct light daily for good colour and healthy trap development.

Water: Use only distilled, rainwater, or reverse osmosis (RO) water.

Watering:

  • Growing season (spring–autumn): Keep soil consistently moist. Best grown in a shallow tray of water.

  • Dormant season (winter): Water less frequently, keep soil just damp, and remove from standing water.

Humidity: 40–70% preferred. Adapts well to typical indoor humidity with proper light and watering.

Temperature: Thrives in 20–30°C during active growth. Requires cool dormancy at 5–10°C for 2–3 months.

Feeding: Traps small insects on its own. Indoors, feed once a month with tiny prey (e.g., fruit flies or small pieces of dried insect). Avoid overfeeding.

Dormancy: Yes—enters a true winter dormancy. Growth slows and traps may die back before resuming in spring.

What’s Included

Plant: One juvenile Dionaea muscipula 'Cudo'. Traps may be green or lightly blushed at shipping; full colour and compact form develop with strong light. Size at shipping: approx. 1.5–2.5 cm across.

Grow Cup: 5 cm clear plastic cup with ventilated lid to retain humidity. Includes protective top layer of moss or sterile medium.

Medium: Low-nutrient, peat-based carnivorous plant mix—moisture-retentive, breathable, and ideal for Dionaea.

Instructions: Step-by-step planting and care guide included.

Beginner Tips

  • Use tiny insects or food portions—traps are small and delicate.

  • Mineral-free water only—tap water can be deadly.

  • Provide winter dormancy—even tiny traps need a seasonal rest to thrive.
