Media:

Sarracenia purpurea forms a low, spreading rosette of stout, tubular leaves that are typically green at the base and flushed or veined with rich red or purple tones across the upper portions, creating a compact and colourful cluster. Unlike many other pitcher species, its traps are broad and open-mouthed with the lid held upright or slightly flared, allowing rainwater to collect inside and mix with digestive fluids. Above the pitchers, the plant may produce solitary, nodding flowers on slender stalks in spring, adding another layer of deep burgundy and muted tones to its intriguing, sculptural appearance.
